After showers this morning that mostly stayed in liquid form, cold air has been oozing into the area as the cold arctic air continues to arrive. Temperature for everyone north of Interstate 20 have been below freezing since about 5pm Sunday with all of us below freezing before midnight tonight. Wake up temperatures on New Year's Day will be in the teens with wind chills in the single digits. Wind stay up through the day from the north between 10 and 20 mph to keep wind chills close to 20 through the day. Most of us will not warm back above freezing on Monday.
Another cold night is in store for Tuesday as lows may get colder than what we will see Monday morning into the lower and middle teens. Highs should return back above freezing Tuesday afternoon with another cold day for Wednesday with some clouds both days as an upper level low crosses the area. It will be dry as there will be virtually no moisture to work with in our area.
We start to see a warming trend into the first weekend of 2018 as high pressure slides to our east and winds turn finally from the south. Highs will climb to the middle 40s Saturday and the 50s on Sunday in advance of our next system that looks to bring rain for next Monday.
