Retired MLB pitcher Halladay dies in crash

HOLIDAY, Fla. (AP) - The Pasco County, Fla., sheriff confirms retired pitcher Roy Halladay, 40, was killed in small plane crash.

WTSP-TV reported the eight-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young award winner died Tuesday after his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico.

The station says Halladay's ICON A5 light sport aircraft crashed 10 miles west of St. Petersburg at about 1 p.m.

Halladay pitched for Toronto and Philadelphia.
