MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Did we just flip the calendar to November? Cause I'm pretty sure we did, but it's pretty difficult to tell with how warm it is outside. After some much needed rain moved through on Friday night, we were mostly cloudy with more peaks of sunshine as the afternoon wore on. Temperatures climbed into the upper 70's and lower 80's area-wide, which is 10-15 degrees above where we normally should be for this time of year. This warm and humid air mass isn't going anywhere soon, as the pattern is set up to be fairly stagnant for the next few days. Expect a pretty warm night under partly cloudy skies with lows in the lower to middle 60's.
Mid-level ridging starts to really build in tomorrow and hold in place for the early part of the week, enhancing the warming trend a tad and clearing out the clouds even more. Tomorrow we will warm up enough to break the record high for November 5th set back in 2015 (83 degrees) under partly cloudy skies as we will hit 85 degrees. Record highs for both Monday and Tuesday are up in the middle 80's and we'll be seeing our highs fall just a couple degrees short of those marks too. Either way, it's going to be warm, humid, and dry through Tuesday with lows staying in the lower 60's too.
The high pressure center and mid-level ridge finally start to break down and move out Tuesday night into Wednesday, as a cold front comes in from the northwest. Models are showing more confidence in the timing of the front for our area, on Wednesday afternoon into the evening. There's also more confidence that there will be decent shower activity along the front, so get the rain gear ready for scattered showers and highs in the upper 60's Wednesday.
Behind the front we'll cool back down into the upper 60's and lower 70's into next weekend, which is closer to average, under sunny skies. Models are hinting at another front coming through quickly again to end out next weekend, which could cool us down even more. This is still several days out and confidence is low on this, but it's something to watch for sure.
