MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Now that all the Christmas presents have been unwrapped, many people are saying out with the old in with the new.
It's often the busiest time of year for local thrift stores, as people are cleaning out their closets to make room for their newest gifts.
Both the Salvation Army and AsLane's Mission stores say they've seen lots of donations this week.
The director of AsLane's says it's great on two fronts, helping people find a good deal and helping the community.
"By shopping at thrift stores, you're helping whatever our missions are," said Christie Rainer, director of AsLane's Mission. "Like our mission is helping the homeless. So by donating and shopping, we're able to continue that mission and make a difference."
If you're looking to make a tax-deductible donation for this year, Saturday is the last day to do so.
