Sinkhole in Jackson Causing Problems for Traffic in East Mississippi

JACKSON, MIss. (WTOK) A sinkhole on the interstate near Jackson is causing major traffic problems that are stretching into East Mississippi. Jackson station WAPT reports that
Brandon Police have shut down a portion of Interstate 20 west after the sink hole opened up. They say a motorist called them to report the huge crater next to the roadway.

"That triggered a lot of things we shut the interstate down immediately because we didn't know how far under the interstate it went," Chief William Thompson told WAPT.

Westbound Traffic headed toward that area is being diverted at exit 59. That detour takes you to Highway 80 to make your way around. It has slowed traffic significantly, with drivers near Meridian reporting slow driving. Please avoid that area if possible.
