Store wants help identifying alleged shoplifter

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A local gas station is wanting the public’s help to identify a shoplifting suspect.

The manager of the Hampton Shell gas station says the incident happened Thursday night. In the surveillance footage you can see a man and a child lean over and grab several tobacco products and run out of the store. The manager says criminals just don’t care.

"Cameras don't mean anything when it comes to a thief. It really doesn't. They know they are being watched, but they just don't care. They just think they can get away with it easy and quick," Manager Taffy Ruffin says.

Ruffin says the suspect in this incident appears to be young and had a small child who helped commit the crime.

“It makes you say, ‘wow really?’ It makes you want to snatch them up and give them a woopin’. It’s not right. He’s out at 12o’clock midnight. It was a school night,” Ruffin explains.

If you can identify the people in the video you’re asked to contact police. The store is offering a reward for your help.
