LAUDERDALE CO., Miss. (WTOK) - High school is not the easiest time for teenagers, but one school district is trying to help students make smart choices.
Lauderdale County Superintendent Randy Hodges joined Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie to address 24 students from all four Lauderdale County high schools. They discussed the challenges high school students face and the consequences of those decisions inside and outside the classroom. Hodges says this is a good way to impact students in a positive and productive way.
"We focus on the real life situations that are going on around us," said Hodges. "They understand it; we understand it. But we feel like we need to sit down and talk about it from the student perspective. They were able to give us input today on how they see some of the challenges they face each day."
The focus was on safe schools and healthy students.
