Suspect arrested after high speed chase

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -- Meridian police have arrested a womanwho led officers on a high speed chase through residential areas of the city Tuesday.

The incident happened just before noon Tuesday. Sergeant Dareall Thompson says an officer was using a radar to check for speeders on 29th Avenue, when the car sped by.

Thompson says officers chased the suspect to the interstate and back toward Highland Park, where speeds reached up to 80 miles per hour. Thompson says officers then terminated the pursuit, but they found the car at a residence in the 1900 block of 26th Avenue.

The suspect was arrested there without incident. Thompson says she will be charged with felony fleeing and was wanted for other misdemeanors.
