TISBA honors Jimmie Rodgers during festival

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The sound of music filled the air near the Red Roof Inn in Meridian for the 28th Annual Jimmie Rodgers Tribute.

The international singing brakeman association hosts the tribute every year around the death of Jimmie Rodgers, which was on May 26th. This is the 28th year of the event, and the group has brought in acts from as far away as Tennessee for what they describe as a family reunion of food, fun, and music.

"We love traditional country music,” says Leola Jones with TISBA. “Everybody's heard Jimmie Rodgers. He's known around the world. He started it all. We have this every year, and it's just like a family reunion, and we all enjoy it so much."

The musical selections continue through Saturday.
