ZyQuan Lemon, 18, is charged with shooting into a vehicle and participating in or conducting gang activity. MPD Chief Benny Dubose says Lemon was involved in a shooting on Dec. 11 at the Cefco at 17th Avenue and 14th Street. Dubose says Lemon is a member of the Black Gangster Disciples, and he was shooting at members of rival gang, the Rollin 60s.

"Several individuals were shooting outside the Cefco," Chief Dubose says. "We obtained video sometime later and Mr. Lemon was identified as a result of the video."

Being in a gang is not illegal, but Chief Dubose says it they're able to tie you to gang activity, the penalties are a lot stiffer.

"If you're charged with gang activity or participating in gang activity, it's an enhanced penalty where your fine is increased considerably," he says. "The bond in Mr. Lemon's case is $100,000 per count."

Dubose says another person involved has already been charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
