LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss (WTOK) - A temporary move is one step closer to becoming a reality for business at the Lauderdale County Courthouse. Supervisors approved a proposal Monday to explore the option of temporarily moving county services to the former J.C. Penney Building at Bonita Lakes Mall.
The contractors for the courthouse project are LPK Architects and Yates Construction. They're recommending that the county take out at least a two year lease on the mall property. According to county officials, a decision on the proposal could be made at the supervisors' meeting later this month. This proposal is being made as supervisors consider how to handle poor courthouse conditions.
