MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Two candidates for Meridian City Council square off Tuesday evening in a debate, with the election just a week away.
Democratic Ward 5 candidate, Weston Lindemann, and Libertarian candidate Charles Kimbrough, will participate in the debate. Incumbent Randy Hammon, a Republican, declined the invitation to participate.
Lindemann says he expects a clean and solid debate from both parties.
"I expect it to be strictly about the issues and positive. I don't expect any negativity," said Lindemann. "I don't think it's any reason for that. We've both ran clean campaigns and we both intend to keep it that way. We just really want to talk about ways that we can help Meridian grow."
The debate will take place at 6 p.m. at The Venue, at 22nd Avenue and 9th Street, in downtown Meridian.
