LAUDERDALE CO., Miss. (WTOK) - Firefighters have been working throughout the evening Tuesday to tackle an especially-stubborn house fire on Zero Road.
It started a little before 6 p.m. at a home in the 6300 block of Zero Road. Clarkdale Fire Chief Terry Arnsdorff says no one was home at the time of the fire, and as of around 8 p.m. they still hadn't managed to get in touch with the homeowners. They're not sure how the fire started yet, but flames continued to shoot up while crews worked to take them down.
"The way mobile homes, especially double-wides are constructed, it's difficult for us to get in there and get the fire cut off," Chief Arnsdorff says. "Once the roof started caving in, we had to pull everybody out, and that made it even more difficult to get water on the fire."
Clarkdale, Long Creek, South and Southeast Lauderdale all responded to this fire.
