Funeral services for Nolon Lavalle Massey will be held on Friday, November, 10th. Visitation 9 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Magnolia Cemetery conducted by Rev. Franklin Denham.
Mr. Massey was retired from MS Power Company after 34 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was Plant Manager at Plant Sweatt in Meridian. Prior to his service at the power company, he served as project engineer for Empire Gas Engineering, the company responsible for construction of “Bravo”, later known as “Williams Field, a training field for jets from NAS Meridian. He was quite active in civic affairs serving as President of the “Short Circuit” retiree club, past president of the Meridian Exchange Club, Past Director of the State Exchange Club. At the time of his death, he served as Treasurer of the Meridian Exchange Club. He was active in Highland Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by his wife of 59 and a half years Shirley Avera Massey, his daughter Kelly Massey Richardson (Ken), grandchildren Justin Heath Richardson (Jessica), Heather Richardson Woodall (Will), great grandchildren Nolon James Richardson, Maddie Leigh Richardson and William Oliver Woodall II, two brothers, Donald Rush Massey and his wife Glenda of Union, MS, and Danny Wayne Massey and his wife Aliene of Lafayette, LA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Nolon R. Massey and Earline Sullivan Massey and infant twin sons Nolon Keith and Gregory Lavalle Massey.
Memorial gifts will be greatly appreciated and can be made to the senior adult department at Highland Baptist Church, Baptist Childrens Home in Jackson, and St. Jude Childrens Hospital in Memphis.
