Ola Jean Parker, 87, of Lawrence, MS passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was born Thursday, January 9, 1930 in Newton County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrence, MS. Bro. Jamie Leach, Bro. Justin K. Chaney and Bro. Tommy Tanner will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements. (601)635-3200
Mrs. Parker was a lifelong resident of Newton County. She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for over 67 years. Everyone knew her as cashier at Piggly Wiggly grocery store where she retired in 2005.
Ola Jean was well loved and appreciated by her family. She spent her best years caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so blessed to have a great-great granddaughter and a god-granddaughter. Most recently, She was thrilled to spend time with her newest great-grandson, Vinny. Even in her daily pain, the little ones brought her so much joy. Precious times with family and friends will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Crenshaw and Mary Ola Crenshaw; husband, Gene Parker; son, Bennie Joe Parker; grandson, Chad M. Parker; great grandson, Kyle Parker; siblings, T.O. Crenshaw, Ted Crenshaw, Billy Crenshaw, Elvie C. Todd, Leactrice C. Burrows and Edna C. Bright.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Parker Blackburn (James R.); grandchildren, Keith E. Parker, Robin B. Pennington (Joedy), Richard Parker Blackburn, Vince Spinosa-Parker (Samantha); great grandchildren, Kirk Parker, Kelly Parker, Chyann Parker, Hailey Williams, Grace Pennington, Kayla Rundles (Jonathan), Nick Pennington, Lucille Spinosa-Parker, Gabriel Kakuske, Vinny Spinosa-Parker; great-great grandchild, Abigail Holifield and god-child, Tyonah Ann Larkin.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Richardson, Ricky May, Randy Craspe, Warren Robinson, Bryan Bobbitt, Dwight Jacobs and Mike Butler
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
