EMCC football player, Tyone Clemons, passes away

SCOOBA, Miss (WTOK) - EMCC is mourning the death of sophomore defensive lineman Tyone Clemons, who passed away this weekend after a car accident in Jones County. Clemons attended West Jones High School where he was selected to the All-State team. Clemons appeared in all 11 games this season with the Lions where he recorded 16 tackles, five assists and three quarterback sacks.

EMCC President, Dr. Thomas Huebner, released this statement: “We were devastated to learn earlier today about the death of Tyone Clemons," the statement read. "Please remember his family members, teammates and classmates in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead. He was a special young man with a great future and he will be deeply missed.”

EMCC, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA, will play Arizona Western in the 2017 NJCAA National Football Championship on Dec. 3.
