The annual tradition of the Trees of Christmas has been celebrated at Merrehope and the F.W. Williams house since 1968.

This year's tour will be themed "Sounds of Christmas", a tribute to special holiday songs.

"Nothing is more special than Christmas music and holiday songs and we are depicting whimsical and traditional songs alike," said Betty Lou Jones of the Meridian restoration Foundation. "The traditional songs will be in Merrehope and the whimsical and children's songs will be in the F.W. Williams home."

Each tree on display will be decorated to tell the story of the holiday song it represents. Those displays will include "White Christmas", "We, Three Kings", "Frosty the Snowman", and others.

This annual project takes months to prepare for, with the help of members of the community members, groups, and even school children.

"Hundreds of people are involved in Trees of Christmas even before it opens," Jones said. "We expect thousands of people to come to Trees of Christmas."

The Trees of Christmas tour will run through early January and is the major fundraiser to help preserve, restore and maintain Merrehope and the F.W. Williams homes.

The tour is available Nov. 19-Jan. 5, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. It will also be open on Sundays: Nov. 24, Dec. 2, Dec. 9, and Dec. 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tours will not be available on Thanksgiving Day,
Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, or New Year's Day.
