Tia Faye Anderson was crowned the 2008-2009 Choctaw Princess Wednesday night. The pageant is the traditional kickoff to the Choctaw Indian Fair.

Anderson was among sixteen young ladies who competed to represent the Choctaw.

Each contestant competes in four categories: formal dress, traditional dress, speech and interview.

According to the Web site of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, the title holds many responsibilities. Anderson will travel and represent the tribe around the country at various functions.

Anderson will be an ambassador for the Choctaw Tribe for the next twelve months.
