Meridian Community College announced its 2008-2009 Arts & Letters Series Thursday.

Mimicking a carnival atmosphere, MCC's fine arts division chair, Dr. Todd Brand, gave a way tickets for some of the shows at a news conference.

The series begins in late October. It includes nine shows, ranging from magic to puppets to music.

"We've got a great variety. We've got a group that does magic acts, The Spencer's Theatre of Illusion," said Brand. "We've got the Celtic Crossroads, which is traditional Irish music. We've got A Couple of Blaguards; that's a two-part Irish comedy. Then we've got Carnival who's coming in. So just a great assortment."

Brand said there's something in store for everyone during this season.
