Meet Eastman Moses. He has entered this year's whole hog and rib
barbecue competition, part of the annual Jimmie Rodgers Festival remembering "The Father of Country Music".

"We are looking to have a good looking hog here in the morning," said Moses.

And he was a bit coy when asked for the recipe to his secret

"It's Moses' special sauce," he said.

Festival organizer Betty Lou Jones says each year the activities get better and there is no better place to hold it than Singing Brakeman Park.

"We love having it here because it's so important to Jimmie Rodgers. You can hear the old sounds, the whistles blowing," Jones said.

For the past few years, the festival has been spread out through the year. Now it's back to its original format, a long weekend full of good music, food and crafts.

Mustang Sally performed Friday night. In addition to the barbecue competition Saturday, the park will also host the youth talent contest, beginning at 10 a.m., with the adult portion starting at 3 p.m.

The songwriters' concert will be at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for that are $10.00. The adult talent winner will open that show.
