The Mississippi Drug Card Program says more than 29,000 Mississippians have received a free prescription drug card since it started Dec. 12, 2007.
According to the program's director, Lila Cedotal, members have processed more than 22,000 prescriptions and saved an average of 30% off their medications, or $360,000.
Mississippi Drug Card is a free prescription drug benefit designed to help consumers access prescriptions they need at the lowest available cost.
Residents with no access to the Internet can receive the discount at a Fred's Pharmacy. The card is also being given out by some hospitals, doctors' offices and clinics.
