C.F. Sauer Foods has recalled its Gold Medal spaghetti sauce mix from stores in Mississippi, Kentucky and Alabama, saying the product contains an undisclosed milk ingredient that could cause an allergic reaction.

The Virginia-based firm recalled all packages of the mix with the following code date: 8119R.

The mix comes in a 1.37-ounce pouch and displays a UPC code of 0-52500-02104-7.

Company spokesman Chuck Adams said 234 cases have been distributed since April 28.

Adams said people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Refunds are available from stores selling the mix.

The voluntary recall came after Sauer discovered that the mix containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not declare the milk content.

Sauer officials may be reached at 1-800-688-5676, or at www.cfsauer.com.
