United Blood Services Tuesday kicked off a year-long promotional campaign in Meridian.

The national "Find the Hero in You" campaign is aimed at getting people to donate blood at least three times a year. Donors are being offered a number of incentives.

"With each blood donation, they earn reward points and those reward points are redeemable for experience rewards. So for instance, instead of getting a knick knack like a coffee cup or something with 'United Blood Services' logo, they can redeem those points for movie tickets, music and DVDs and music points like I-tunes and whatever," said marketing director Heather Knight.

Knight says response was so good Tuesday that some donors were not able to be served.

Donors may still register to win a 32-inch flat screen TV and a $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart.

United Blood Services at 1115 25th Avenue is open various hours Monday through Saturday. No appointment is necessary.
