Hundreds of local people will spend the next few days learning more about their heart health.
Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center began its 13th Annual Heart Check Tuesday, offering free blood pressure, cholesterol and weight screenings to residents.
The event is held every year in conjunction with National Heart Month, as a way for people to have a better understanding of their risk for heart problems.
"Jeff Anderson Medical Center is really committed to letting health care consumers know about their heart health," said marketing director Ann Weddington. "And one way to know about your heart health is to know your numbers, know your blood pressure, know how much you weigh, according to your body mass index, and have all these numbers so you know if you need to seek further medical attention. "
The event will continue Wednesday and Thursday. About 1,300 people are expected to take part.
