Rush Hospital hosted an open house Thursday to showcase renovations at its new Family Birth Center, NICU, and Women's Pavilion.
This is the third of four phases to upgrade the facilities for female patients, including those with physical disabilities.
Women come to this wing after having a baby or a surgical procedure. Officials say the home-like atmosphere is a benefit to patients.
"We've tried to take the needs of our community and our environment into consideration when we've been approaching this renovation and tried to make it what women want and what they need.so they'll choose Rush as their provider of care," said Jamie Hodges, nurse manager of Rush Women's Services.
Phase four will complete the other wing as a facility like this one, to serve a greater number of patients.
