The Mississippi Department of Health says the total number of swine flu cases in the state is 34.
Here are the counties where the Health Department has reported swine flu cases: Hinds (1), DeSoto (1), Forrest (2), Holmes (1), Harrison (11), Jackson (10), Lamar (4), Lauderdale (1), Union (1) and Yazoo (2). The latest case was reported Monday.
State epidemiologist Dr. Mary Currier said swine flu responds well to anti-viral medications, but children, the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill may be at higher risk for complications.
