The Mississippi Department of Health says the state's total number of reported swine flu cases is 50.
Swine flu cases have been reported in Hinds (2), Rankin (1), Madison (1), DeSoto (1), Forrest (2), Holmes (3), Harrison (17), Jackson (13), Lamar (4), Lauderdale (2), Union (1), Lowndes (1) and Yazoo (2) counties.
Mississippi has reported no swine flu deaths.
The 30 cases reported in Harrison and Jackson counties ware not unexpected because, health officials say, the coast has a lot of travelers and a larger population.
Health officials say swine flu responds well to anti-viral medications, but children, the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill may be at higher risk for complications.
