Labor Day weekend means a lot more people traveling, and with that, more traffic accidents are likely.
Because the demand for blood goes up, and donations are down around holidays, United Blood Services is appealing to the public to keep on giving.
Officials say the need never goes away. It also still has a need for donations of platelets and plasma.
"United Blood Services is open seven days a week. And that's really an effort to accommodate all of our donors," said Marketing director Heather Knight. "Platelet and plasma donors very, very important this time of year. Platelet expire every five days and the plasma needs are really great at this time. So it's very important that people come in ad donate."
Knight says you can even schedule an appointment on-line to donate.
