Nine new human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in eight Mississippi counties,
According to a press release from the Mississippi Department of Health on Monday, two of those infected by the mosquito-borne virus were Harrison County residents.
There also was one case reported in each of the following counties: Hinds, Jones, Leflore, Perry, Covington, Forrest, and Panola.
Cases had already been reported in Neshoba and Scott counties, among others.
The state's total number of cases stands at 32.
