Anderson Regional Medical Center marked the opening of its congestive heart failure management center Monday.
Officials say it allows for close follow-up treatment on an out-patient basis and reduces the need for hospitalizations.
The center provides a place for IV medications to be administered, lab samples to be drawn and address patients' weight and dietary needs.
Medical director, Dr. Wesley Bennett, says a key task will be educating patients.
"And things that they can do to avoid admissions to the hospital. Our job obviously is to try to maintain them with healthy existence outside the hospital and have them able to get about without having a lot of limitation related to shortness of breath or swelling," said medical director, Dr. Wesley Bennett.
