Anderson Recognized by March of Dimes

Meridian, Miss.
The March of Dimes presented Anderson Regional Medical Center with an award Wednesday.

Anderson received a 39-Week Elective Banner, which signifies how the medical center has reduced the number of elective inductions and Cesarean deliveries before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy.

The March of Dimes has been getting out a "healthier babies are worth the wait" campaign. Officials say Anderson has set accomplishing that as a goal.

"This was accomplished by putting together a plan that instituted great teamwork, much education, much planning," said Anderson CEO Ray Humphreys. "It brought people from all disciplines that is involved with allowing us to deliver healthier babies."

The March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
