About a thousand people from all over east Mississippi and West Alabama will be taking part in this safety screening over the next couple of days.
It's an opportunity to get your blood pressure and weight checked, and blood drawn for a cholesterol screening.
"Everybody needs to know their numbers. Blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol are three of the risk factors. Obesity, and hypertension, causes damage to blood vessels and internal organs and your cholesterol will be too high and clog your arteries," said Marcia Brewer.
Heart Check will continue Wednesday and Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day, in the Anderson Health and Fitness Center Auditorium. There are still a few appointments still available. Wait times have been about 15 minutes.
You may call Anderson Hospital at 601-553-6000 during regular business hours and ask about making an appointment for Heart Check
In addition to Heart Check, SafeHeart cardiovascular screening will be available for $98 Thursday, February 24 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. These tests screen for early risk of stroke, heart attack, peripheral vascular disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
