Anderson Regional Medical Center has opened a clinic at Wal-Mart on Highway 19 North in Meridian.

Hospital officials say the goal is to bring the clinic to the people and because Wal-Mart gets a lot of shoppers the partnership only makes sense.

"This is a clinic that will be staffed by nurse practitioners , LPNs, with physician availability within one block of this clinic," said Anderson CEO Ray Humphreys. "And it will consist of minor care services, blood pressure checks and various infections and services."

Along with this location, Anderson clinics are scheduled to open in four other local locations, including the other Meridian Wal-Mart at Bonita, and also the cities of Newton, Philadelphia and Demopolis.
