Atmos Energy says it was able to seal a small leak at 22nd Street and 34th Avenue in Meridian. But it's also canvassing the neighborhood for other leaks.
Residents of the area had complained of a strong odor and were scared of the presence of leaking gas. The smell is mercaptan, a chemical added to gas, which is odorless, so that leaks can be detected.
Spokesman Robert Lesley said the company's efforts to survey for other leaks are being hampered somewhat by rain that fell overnight.
