The Anderson Cancer Center received a couple of donations Tuesday to help people in this area fighting the disease.
Officials from Meridian's N.E.W. call center gave $600 to the Cancer Patients Benevolence Fund. The money was raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Company officials say they held bake sales and a silent auction, among other things, to raise the money.
"The most important part of it was to educate our employees on breast cancer awareness," said Toria Hoze of N.E.W. "To give them more education on things to look for, and also since we were doing it, we wanted to find a local organization that would benefit from a donation."
The center also got a donation of hats for patients going through chemotherapy, from Northcrest Baptist Church. The church collected the hats during its services in October.
