Governor Phil Bryant is behind an initiative that kicked off this week in Jackson, which is looking to help Mississippi residents find healthy food options.
"Eat Healthy Mississippi" is a program centered around a website that can help restaurant-goers find the healthiest food available.
Bryant says the program is close to his heart, not just because he wants Mississippi to be healthier, but because he was overweight as a child himself.
"I know what some people particularly kids go through," says Bryant, "people make fun of them, they call them names, and we're just saying, start eating healthy now."
The centerpiece of the program is the website healthydiningfinder.com, which helps you find those healthier options at fast food and other area restaurants.
