Meridian Plastic Surgery Associates is the only place in Mississippi offering a procedure called Exilis that helps remove wrinkles and sagging without surgery.
Kathy Harris says she has always had wonderful skin, thanks to her Italian heritage. But like many people in their 60s, she began to see a few minor problem areas.
"I was just getting old and wrinkled," Harris said.
Harris said she did not want major surgery and was thrilled to hear that was not necessary. Meridian Plastic Surgery is one of the few places in the nation that has brand new technology proven to make skin look firmer, tighter and smoother without any pain, any needles and no healing time.
"My face is getting tighter," said Harris. "The skin under my neck is getting tighter and firmer."
Harris didn't like the sagging around her chin, cheeks, and eyes. She has had three of the four treatments required by the new Exilis.
Exilis uses radio frequency, a technology that has been out for years, except this machine is an updated version.
"It will cause reorganization of the collagen, which makes you have a more youthful appearance, or tighter skin," said plastic surgeon, Dr. Mark Elliott. "Then it has a cooling attachment, which allows the hand piece to go deeper without having an uncomfortable sensation on the skin. Then it can reorganize and melt some of the fat that is beneath the skin."
There is no need for anesthesia and the results are almost immediate, but Dr. Elliott says the full effect is not seen for a month.
"It's about a 20-minute procedure. You have a planned 3 to 4 treatments that are separated by a couple of weeks, with maximum results three to four weeks after your final treatment," said Elliott.
And unlike lasers, the good news is that Exilis can be used by all men and women.
Prices for the Exilis treatment will vary. Depending on how many treatments you get and what parts of the body are done, a single treatment could cost you between $500 to $1,000. Multiple treatments could end up costing you as much $2,500.
