Anderson Regional Medical Center is offering free smoking cessation classes beginning Thursday, Jan. 19.
Two class times are being offered. There is a morning class from 9 until 10:30 and an evening class from 5:30 until 7.
The classes will be held at the Anderson South Campus building, the former site of Riley Hospital.
The coordinator said the six-week course offers more than just tips to break the habit.
"Also, we have time to just talk about their experiences over the week with trying to quit, things that have happened," said Sharon Davis, tobacco treatment specialist. "We try to get them to focus on alternate behavior, breaking the habit, as well as reducing their body's demand for nicotine."
For more information about the classes or to register, call 601-484-3374.
