An annual health fair drew dozens of area residents to the EMEPA auditorium on Saturday.
The fair was hosted by the Eliza Pillars Registered Nurses Association. Organizers say it is all part of an effort to provide the community with vital information on things such as strokes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and obesity. Officials say they were thrilled with Saturday's turnout and feel they were able to reach the community.
"Because I think the information we have is very important," Gloria McAlpin says. "And the community needs that and they realize this and so they're here. We also know that people are having problems with insurance and this is a way for them to come get free healthcare information tips."
McAlpin says a similar health fair will be held again around this time next year. She says officials hope to have more booths and vendors on hand then.
