As National Nutrition Month wraps up, local dietitians continue to promote the importance of healthy eating.
Experts from Rush Hospital were on hand at Bonita Lakes Saturday to distribute nutritional information as people there exercised. Dietitians says as always, eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid fatty foods. They say there are other simple steps you can take to be healthier.
"Trying to cut back on eating out, fast food," Crystal Phillips says. "When you do eat fast food, make better choices. Lean meats, salads, those types of things. Just trying to eat low fat. Cut back on sugar."
Phillips says in addition to eating healthy, it is also important to exercise in order to improve your overall well-being.
