Officials from Rush Health Systems and The Specialty Hospital of Meridian took part in a ground breaking ceremony Tuesday evening for a new clinic building on the campus of H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
The clinic will be more than 10,000 square feet and include 20 exam rooms.
"There will be four physicians and there are mid-level providers here, midwifery services," said Chris Rush, vise-president of clinics and physicians. "And there will be five physician offices and exam rooms, lab and X-ray, convenient access to the hospital."
The clinic is expected to open in June 2012.
