Florida is still reeling after being hit by back-to-back hurricanes.
First Charley, then Frances, both category four hurricanes, hit the state with an extremely destructive one-two punch . It resulted in billions of dollars in damages, millions of people without power and thousands of people homeless and without food.
The Key Chapter of the American Red Cross has sent six volunteers from the area to help in meeting the needs of families affected by the storms and is sending out an urgent call to the community for more volunteers.
Red Cross volunteer Jeri Mobley spent three weeks in Florida delivering food and water door to door, an experience she says she'll never forget.
If you'd like to become a Red Cross volunteer, call the Meridian office at (601) 485-5151.
