Grant Aims to Increase Employment

A local ministry is using a $25,000 grant to help people ages 45 and older to find jobs.

The program, offered by Good Shepherd Ministry, has a goal of helping 26 to 50 people find suitable employment by March of 2005.

The program is called ''Experience Works--Steps to Win.''

"People can learn how to use technology. If they have problems with remedial English or math, we have assistance in that area. Also we will be doing one on one mentorship, carrying them to the WIN Job Center to help them use the automated systems and learning how to dress for success," said ministry leader, Debra Brewer.

Good Shepherd Ministry hosts an open house Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Liberty Church, 3718 8th Street in Meridian.
