A bronze grave marker, belonging to a veteran who died in 1984, will soon actually be placed on his grave.
The marker apparently disappeared between the funeral home and the cemetery when Chester Jefferson was laid to rest.
It was recovered by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department years ago.
Now the serviceman's family has been located in Purvis, Miss., by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 79.
VFW member Chuck McElroy said, if you know of a deceased veteran whose grave does not have a bronze marker, please call (601) 482-4508.
