West End Elementary continues to be a Level 1 priority school. It is one of the eight lowest-performing schools in the state, based on rankings by the Mississippi Department of Education.
In a verbal statement to Newscenter 11, Meridian superintendent Sylvia Autry said she would not comment on the status of West End until Monday, when the school board meets for a special called session.
Board president Fred Wile stated Friday that any statements he might make about what might happen to the school would only be speculation.
The status of West End is on the agenda for Monday's meeting, as well as "reconfiguration" of West End/Harris. The Harris campus is the upper elementary grades and West End the lower.
