The Mississippi Board of Education has acted to cut 117 positions in order to save $13.7 million over the next five years.
The action was part of the ongoing Mississippi Department of Education reorganization plan.
The board made the decision during a meeting Saturday in Jackson.
It was not immediately clear which positions would be cut or when the reduction in workforce would begin.
