The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has contributed to Meridian's cleanup effort from Hurricane Ivan.
Mayor John Robert Smith said a $10,000 check was sent by the tribe.
"I do want to thank Chief Phillip Martin, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, sent to the city of Meridian for hurricane cleanup assistance," said Smith. "No request in. They just did it, being good neighbors, a check for $10,000."
Smith said the city appreciates the gift. The estimated total cost of cleanup and overtime as a result of the storm exceeds $600,000.
