Ross Collins Career and Technical Center hosted an open house Friday.
Vocational director Marcus Irby said this event allows parents and the community to learn about what the center does in preparing young people for the workforce.
"Not all students are going to college. Hopefully and eventually all students do go to work," said vocational director Marcus Irby. "And we want to instill in them a work ethic, give them career skills that they can take and build on, whether they go directly to work or maybe they go to a four-year college and they'll still be prepared."
Ross Collins students get practical skills in trades such as electrical wiring, as well as marketing and computers.
