Weidmann's Restaurant general manager, Willie McGehee, said Monday the restaurant is changing operational management. However, he said it will remain open.
The 120-year-old restaurant and its building were purchased in 2001 by a group of local citizens for about $250,000. It was remodeled and reopened in 2002.
The property was leased to Nick Apostle, owner of Nick's in Jackson, Miss., who has operated it until now.
McGehee told Newscenter 11 that Apostle wants to devote his full attention to his Jackson restaurant, so the lease is being cancelled. McGehee and others in Meridian will assume full operational control.
