Three Meridian hospitals are now designated as official Level 3 trauma centers by the state of Mississippi.
The designation goes to Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital, Rush Foundation Hospital and Riley Foundation Hospital.
Hospitals are rated from Level 4 to Level 1, with Level 1 being the highest.
The rating depends on the hospitals' capabilities to care for trauma patients.
